Just got new supplies this past weekend, and as usual got my mix of speedball nibs. Got the 3rd and 4th down in the picture and the last. These have always been my favorite. The third is listed as ” #22B Standard Extra Fine Nib — Medium stiff, bronze finish, for ornamental work and ruling.” and the fourth “#56 Standard School Nib — Stiff action, fine drawing pen for student use, bronze finish.” The last is listed as “#101 Imperial Nib — Flexible for ornamental work, bronze finish.”
Listed them for “ornamental work” is very accurate, these nibs are really amazing for making intricate, fine patterns or doing lines of varying thicknesses. Their biggest weakness is their durability, these guys break down quickly and dull out or just split apart, hence why I buy so many of them. Still great stuff. Just the best for drawing comics : )
